The Coalition’s focus is aimed at changing our world – Long Beach and its surrounding communities – into a safe and healthy place for families. 

We do this by:
 

  • Advocating for policies that limit kids’ access to alcohol and other drugs
  • Community education
  • Youth leadership training
  • Responsible beverage service training for merchants
  • Collaborative partnerships with (among others)
    • Government
    • Law Enforcement
    • Parents
    • Students
    • Health Care
    • Clergy
    • Community based organizations
    • School District
    • Media
       

Our accomplishments over the years include:
 

  • 2001 Change in Open Container Ordinance
  • Lock Up Your Liquor and Medicine Campaigns
  • Teen Nite Out (2001-2012, 2016-present)
  • Tween Nite Out
  • Social Host Law (first in NY State 2006)
  • School District Breathalyzer Policy (2007)
  • Increased sanctions for Social Host violations (2014)
  • In-Service trainings for Police, Coaches, Lifeguards
  • Weekly Alcohol and Other Drug Awareness Series
